That is….rooms with a water view. And that too from across the world.
I have had this habit of saving pics of great looking homes that I come across on the internet, even before Pinterest days. 99% of these are from the New York Times Real Estate section, either featured homes in their “What you get for” series or real estate listings. Here are a few pics that I saved back in 2009.
If I remember correctly this house was somewhere in the Mediterranean. Who wouldn’t want that view?
Another bedroom in the same house. Notice the subtle coastal decor (unlike in the US)?
I think the next house was in South America. Outdoor dining at its best, facing both the pool and the lake.
The bedroom in this house has a seamless window with amazing water views.
The dining room in this Australian home is open to the outdoor patio with access to the river. Again, you can see the stress on unobstructed view.
A room with a water view doesn’t really have to overlook a natural body of water as you can see in the pics below. In both of these homes the owners/architects have used architectural elements to frame the views thereby adding to the view. This home in Singapore is one of my favorites.
The sloping roof, the columns, and the arches in the backyard patio add to the scene. I can so totally see us living in this space…..except may be in some other place. I remember the article mentioning about how close they were to nature (was next to a nature preserve) and how the owners were taken aback at first when they saw iguanas roaming around the place!
This Nicaraguan home uses over the top scale and granduer to accentuate the indoor pool.
Is your dream home by the water? Would love to hear your take.
I am super psyched that I can finally start working on the office. Looking forward to some painting the walls and big decor projects. Sounds like a great long weekend, right? Swing by Tuesday for more updates.
What are your plans for the long weekend? Happy Memorial Day everyone!
