A wine cork craft, I haven’t done one in years. The last one I did was his cute wine cork bird ornament. Ever since making a wine cork ball has been on my list. It’s even been over a year since I bought a bag of 70 or so corks off someone on our FB yard sale group. Yeah, I do have to buy corks as we don’t drink. Collecting that many corks would have taken us a while. 🙂 So a decorative cork ball or two for the coffee table was always on the plan but an ornament?
Though I had used up some of the corks for my Bird wine cork ornaments last year I still had a good number to work with, so I thought why not? What do they call this sorta thing….killing two birds with one stone? I could use it as an ornament now and after the holidays it could totally grace my table or floating shelves. Yay! Double score!
In keeping with my easy to make ornaments theme this one too took about a whopping 5 minutes to make! 😉 If you can handle a glue gun then go for it.
Materials
Paper Mache Ornament – $1.49 – I used the smaller size (2.5 inches dia) from Michaels. Corks – 45 to 46 Hot glue gunMethod
Ok, this one is super simple. I just picked a point near the hanging loop, which by the way I accidentally cut (the paper mache ball was originally part of a Pinterest fail ornament project 🙂 ), and glued away trying to get as many full circles as I can around the ball.
Once you run out of place for a full circle you just go back and fill the empty spots.
Seriously that’s all there is to it!
My other 12 Days of Christmas Ornaments: Santa Belt Ornament, Sunburst Mirror Ornament, Glitter Swirl Ornament, Terrarium Ornament, Woodland Reindeer Ornament.
Update: After almost a year the cork ball is still going strong. See how I’m using it now here.

I have a full vase of corks, so this would be perfect. Love it! Pinning!

Okay, I love it as an ornament — and as a decorative ball! And, unlike you, we do drink wine around here and I have a bag of corks I’ve been collecting for years. Waiting for just the right project. I think I found it! 🙂 Linda

Love this! I’ll have to start collecting our corks. I keep throwing them away thinking they’re clutter (which to any crafter is nonsense, right?), but now that I’ve seen this, I have a good reason to hoard them!

{GASP} I LOVE THIS! You’re a genius. I love how it looks a little rustic, a little retro and a little graphic. Perfection.
