Isn’t it strange how you become friends with folks you haven’ t even met? The magic of Internet! I first discovered Reshma’s blog, Weekend Tweaks, after I casually clicked on her comment on another blogger’s blog. To say that I was super excited to see another fellow Indian who is equally passionate about DIY & home decor wouldn’t be an understatement.
What I admire the most about Reshma is that she is never afraid of color. This is a gal who painted a dresser in her living room hot pink! Yes, you read that right HOT PINK and you know what it looks great! Today she is sharing her son’s room with us.
Not one to be bound by the usual dark colors in boy’s room decor Reshma took the happy and cheerful route with the fun yellow and red combo. Any guesses on the number of DIY projects in this room?
Of course the yellow horizontal stripes. What else? The headboard, which used to be a memo board, the no sew bed skirt, the curtains made with fabric from IKEA, the vintage frame, the list goes on… The dresser got a paint makeover as did the desk in the other corner.
The shelves above the desk too got painted navy to match the desk. Notice how the ample use of white grounds the room and keeps the yellow from becoming too overwhelming? Yellow is a very tricky color to work with, kudos to her for making it look fabulous in this room.
To see more of Reshma’s color adventures hop on over to her blog. Spoiler alert….she recently add orange accents to her living room. 😉
Do you love using color in your home? Or do you chicken out like me when it comes to going bold?

LOVE the yellow! I am not sure if I have it in me to go bold with colors 🙂 My main issue is that I might get bored of it soon … but it looks refreshing and great 🙂 I love that frame with the S – ant to do something similar with an A 🙂

Wow! This is such an awesome room! I really like the yellow stripes on the wall 🙂 I can tell that Reshma put in a lot of work for this room.
I am not afraid of using bold colors in small doses (table lamps, cushion covers etc) in my home but I don’t think I would ever be bold enough to paint bright colors on a wall – maybe just red 😉
Vidya, please do share more of these posts so that even people like me are brave enough to paint our walls 🙂

Thanks Sarah. I know, I should do more home tours. I have quite a few awesomely talented neighbors who deserve to be on the home tour posts for a few weeks. Yeah it will take at least 3-4 posts to cover each home! I’ve been waiting on honing my manual mode photography skills to photograph them, think the auto setting will not do justice to their homes.

Vidya, Thank you so so so much. My first time on another blog and honored to be on yours. You have compiled so well about my projects. You totally made my day. I need to remind myself to not grin so much today.

I loved all her bright colors, specially those orange lamps, those were awesome!!! I am boring.. I tend to stay with grey’s etc… Other than our guest room that used to be step daughters room, is a bright green apple color.
